EACH 5 ML RECONST.CEFIXIME….100MG - Cefixime is a member of the third generation of cephalosporins, which attack bacteria by rupturing their cell walls. It is a beta-lactam antibiotic that is semi-synthetic and has a broad range of activity against a variety of Gram+ve and Gram-ve bacteria. Cefixime is one of the most powerful antibiotics since it is resistant to both penicillinase and cephalosporins activity.

Cefixime works by impeding the third and last stage of bacterial cell wall production. The bacterial cell wall's penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) are essential for the synthesis and construction of the bacterial cell wall. The transpeptidation stage of the formation of peptidoglycans is ultimately stopped by cefixime's binding to these PBPs. This results in the death of the infection-causing bacteria and stops their proliferation.
